What factors most influenced your decision to join The Trade Desk?
When you go for an interview, it's all about selling yourself and your capability to a company. The thing that was different about my interview process with The Trade Desk was that, throughout my interview, it was them selling the company to me, as much as I was selling my abilities to them. I could see how great of a fit the company would be for me.
At the end of the interview, The Trade Desk seemed like everything I was looking for. I could sense a great deal of tenacity and people seemed willing to work for and with each other. It seemed like my contribution would be very valuable and key, which is something I really looked forward to.
That sounds very communal. Is the office very social?
Everyone is pretty much friends. That sounds almost too good to be true, but it's just the way it is. You come into work, and you're talking to friends, not just coworkers.
So, is it hard to get work done then?
There are times when it can get pretty noisy, but you can always just put on your headphones and dive into your work. At the same time, as soon as you take off your headphones, you can jump right into a conversation that’s happening nearby. It’s the best of both worlds, I’d say.
Is there anything that surprised you about working at The Trade Desk?
I was aware of the term company culture before this, but because of this company, I think it's going to be the first and most important thing I look for if I go anywhere else. I don't think I can work in another environment after working for this company.
They take so much care and attention to detail when they're hiring someone. There may be a person who's smart, but if he or she is even slightly arrogant, they will go with someone else instead, because they know that person would be a better person to work with, collaborate, and just, in the long run, be a better fit for the company.
What about growth?
Even with our recent company growth, The Trade Desk makes it really easy to approach people, even the C-levels, with a question or with an idea. I think that’s an important factor to our growth. Approachability is a big thing here.
